Yhara Barba

Yhara Barba is a senior at Bergen County Technical High School-Teterboro. She is the co-founder of the Breaking Barriers, a club that is focused on helping immigrants, Vice President of the Mandarin Club, a leader within her church's youth group, and a member of its pastoral council. Yhara has engaged in activities focusing on aeronautics, physics, and chemistry. Through her school’s American Chemical Society’s Chemistry Club, Yhara has participated in the New Jersey Institute of Technology’s Chemistry Olympiads and in various outreach events at the Liberty Science Center. In her senior year she will be participating in an internship with Nicholaus Parziale, PhD at Stevens Institute of Technology focusing on thermal/fluids area with applications in defense and energy/sustainability. It also places a focus on hypersonic boundary-layer instability and transitions. Yhara works as a lifeguard and swim instructor at her local YMCA. Yhara aspires to be an engineer to help better the life of people all over the world.
