2027 Scholar
Stella Phillips is a junior at Pemberton Township High School. Her STEM interests include biomedical engineering, oncology, diagnostics, and therapeutics. Through Stanford’s iGEM Bioengineering Research Program, she collaborated with other students to design a cell-free device using a microfluidic CRISPR/Cas13a biosensor to detect RSV RNA in environmental air and surface samples, with a focus on applications in pediatric oncology settings. Stella has also explored the ethical and societal dimensions of science and medicine through research on nuclear energy in medicine. She serves as Class President for the Class of 2028 and President of Travel Club and is a varsity tennis First Singles player and team captain. Stella hopes to continue exploring biomedical engineering and medicine, particularly the development of technologies for oncology and diagnostics.
