Sonal Lakhani
Sonal Lakhani is a senior at John P. Stevens High School. She is the recipient of the U.S. Congressional Silver Medal & Girls Scout Silver Medal and is awaiting Gold Medal approvals. She is very passionate about the STEM program with a focus on Medicine. She has published four original DNA sequences in the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) database while working on a research project at WISE, Summer Scholars program at Rutgers University. She completed the Toxicology, Health, and Environment Disease (THED) program at Rutgers to broaden her knowledge of drug disposition, forensic toxicology, and biomedical research. She is an active member of the National Latin Society and has received bronze award twice on the National Latin exam. She is passionate about community health experience by volunteering at JFK University Medical Center, Community Food Bank of New Jersey and local community food centers such as Limitless Minds Tutor for Elementary School Kids in Math and Reading, and U.S Marine Corps Toys for Tots program. For her work she has been awarded an Ambassador and National community service honor at InnerView.org. Sonal is an active member of her school’s HOSA Club, where she and her peers empower innovators and leaders to improve the health of the community through education, collaboration, and experience. After school she is a dedicated member of her High School Cross Country and Track Team and is preparing for her first marathon. In her free time she can be found playing chess or beating her dad at badminton.
