
Shaan Mody
Advisory Council Member
Shaan Mody is a 2025 alumnus of the Governor’s STEM Scholars program and a current medical student at Rowan–Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine. During his time in the program, he led his research team to win the Science Communicator Award for their project on water quality across New Jersey. Shaan graduated from Rutgers University–Camden with a B.S. in Biology (Biomedical Sciences concentration) and minors in Chemistry and Health Sciences. He was a 3+4 B.S./D.O. program candidate and aspires to a career combining a D.O. and Ph.D., with a focus on pediatric neurology and addressing healthcare inequities. At Rutgers, Shaan served as Vice President of the Student Governing Association and Chair of the Student Wellness Advisory Board. He was President of Active Minds and Co-Founder of Caring for Camden, an initiative supporting the city’s home-insecure population through service-driven health equity efforts. His research spans pediatric neurosurgery, gene regulation in Drosophila melanogaster, and campus-wide studies on student wellness. He has also volunteered as an EMT, Emergency Medical Responder, Certified Epilepsy Awareness Ambassador, and nursing home resident support volunteer. Shaan is deeply committed to advancing patient care, scientific research, and public health.
