Shaan Mody

Shaan Mody is a junior at Rutgers University–Camden, pursuing a B.S. in Biology with a concentration in Biomedical Science and minors in Chemistry and Health Sciences. As a candidate for the 3+4 B.S.-D.O. program with Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine, Shaan aspires to a career combining a D.O. and Ph.D. Shaan is the Vice President of the Student Governing Association, managing all active student committees, and as Chair of the Student Wellness Advisory Board, advocating for campus health. He is also the President of Active Minds and Co-Founder of Caring for Camden, which addresses homelessness through service initiatives. His research includes investigating gene regulation in Drosophila with Dr. Nir Yakoby, leading pediatric neurosurgical studies at New Jersey Pediatric Neuroscience Institute, and conducting university-wide research focused on improving dorm conditions and menstrual health accessibility. Shaan serves as a Student Instructor and Pre-Medical Mentor. He is an EMT and has volunteered as a Certified Epilepsy Awareness Ambassador, Emergency Medical Responder, and Resident Support Volunteer at his local nursing home. His future goals include becoming a physician scientist with a focus on pediatric neurology, dedicated to advancing patient care and addressing healthcare inequities.
