Mukund Maurya

Team Lead

Mukund Maurya is a second-year biomedical engineering major in the Honors College at NJIT, currently on the pre-med track. As Vice President of Genetic Engineering Machinery, a research-based organization, and treasurer for the badminton club, he is actively involved in various campus activities. He is a distinguished Grand Challenges Scholars Program member, where students collaborate to address emerging global challenges. He is currently focused on the theme of “Engineering Better Medicine.” Mukund is a member of the Undergraduate Student Advisory Council at NJIT, working alongside the Provost and peers from diverse majors to implement reforms across various departments, from improving dining options to revising the e-book system mandated by professors. This past summer, Mukund participated in the Honors Summer Research Institute, where he worked on the formulation of stable and functional recombinant protein-stabilized phase-shift nanodroplets for ultrasound theragnostic under the guidance of Dr. Chattaraj. He is now continuing his research journey as a volunteer, delving into clinical-based research with Dr. Yang to understand macrophages in the immune system comprehensively. Currently, Mukund works part-time as a medical assistant at Family Care Urgent Care, where he seeks to deepen his understanding of the patient-provider relationship and further explore his passion for medicine.
