Kaylee Carranza
2026 Scholar
Kaylee Carranza is a sophomore at Jose Marti STEM Academy. Her research examines the toxicity of heavy metals in e-waste on living cells and the effects of Alzheimer’s disease on the brain. She is president of Girls Who Code, where she encourages more girls to explore coding through approachable, hands-on projects. Outside academics, Kaylee is flute section leader in the marching band and helps at her family’s grocery store making traditional sweets. She aspires to become a biomedical engineer, using technology to improve quality of life for people with physical or neurological injuries.
