Graysen Shaffer

2026 Scholar

Graysen Shaffer is a sophomore at Neptune High School. Graysen’s lifelong obsession with transportation drives his engineering, design, and research work. He has explored major transit systems and airports across the U.S. and the Caribbean, redesigned NJ Transit routes multiple times, and created full city-scale infrastructure plans for fun. He taught himself CAD, produced a 3D-printed prototype for his capstone project, is beginning work toward his private pilot’s license, and has flown in a gyroplane through the EAA Young Eagles program. Graysen is also entrepreneurial, buying and selling high-value tech, helping people choose cars using spec analyses, and planning detailed travel itineraries and budgets. His team won the Rowan National Summer Transportation Institute program, and he hopes to pursue transportation engineering and public policy.
