Gary Leschinsky

2025 Scholar

Gary Leschinsky is a junior at Davidson Academy Online. Gary has food allergies, which motivated him to help other students with allergies by inventing and patenting the A-Watch for Allergies, a watch-like device that contains sensors to detect the symptoms of an allergic reaction. Gary has received a United States Patent, been featured in media publications like USA Today and the Washington Post, and received a New Jersey State Resolution, for his work on the A-Watch for Allergies. Gary is also passionate about ecology and the environment, and he conducted research on the effects of solar panels on ground soil at the University of Pennsylvania. Gary is also an avid chess player and he holds the title of National Chess Master from the United States Chess Federation. Gary is the founder of Chess Beyond Borders, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to using chess to improve cognitive function and bridge cultural bridges across the world. Chess Beyond Borders has taught chess to over 6,400 people from 91 countries and raised $4,920 from organizations like Google.
