
Gabriela Acosta

Gabriela Acosta is a senior at Perth Amboy High School. She conducted research in a biomedical engineering lab at Rutgers University, focusing on tissue engineering and hydrogel development for regenerative medicine. She is a dedicated member of the Rutgers Upward Bound Math-Science program and its National Society of Black Engineers Jr. chapter, where she participates in STEM outreach and projects. Gabriela serves as vice president of both her Class Council and the National Honor Society, and is a board member of the Science National Honor Society, leading initiatives such as a project on electrochemical cells. She was also selected for The Perry Initiative, where she explored orthopedic surgery and engineering through immersive workshops. Beyond STEM, Gabriela is a member of her school choir and enjoys music. She hopes to pursue a career in biomedical engineering, designing prosthetics, medical devices, and technologies that improve healthcare outcomes.
