Elizabeth McNamara

Elizabeth McNamara is a senior at Bergen County Academies where she is a member of the Academy for the Advancement of Science and Technology. She has attained academic success while studying a rigorous program where advanced concepts such as medicinal chemistry, bioethics, and chemical system engineering. She is also a founding member of the Middle Eastern Relief and Care Liaison (MERCL) a student-run organization that raises money for refugees in the Middle East. This organization invites speakers such as directors of non-profits, humanitarian workers, and professors who are experts on humanitarian relief in the Middle East. Outside of academics, she has been a member of her school’s varsity volleyball team and is a licensed EMT. She volunteers at a local ambulance corps for eighteen hours a week as a Crew Chief, treating patients and working with her community. With research experience in nanochemistry, she hopes to utilize biomedical technology to help those wounded in conflict zones live long, fulfilling lives.
