Duran Chukumba
Duran Chukumba is a junior at Foundation Academy Charter School. He has attended and completed a year of W.E.B. DuBois Accelerated Learning Academy (ALA) as an amateur researcher of biomedical engineering and received the honor of reciting the W.E.B. DuBois ALA oath at the program’s certificate ceremony. Further, he has received recognition and praise from Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora due to his paper on strategies and technologies to lessen climate change and pollution. He is most interested in the technological aspect of STEM. Duran founded his high school’s STEM Club, to support his peers in gaining STEM experiences and opportunities. He is also a member of his school’s Student Government and National Honor Society. Duran is developing a prototype of a prosthetic to help people regain the ability to play musical instruments. In his leisure time, he creates and publishes commentary on layman-targeted technology (ex: the Nintendo DSI) and video games onto social media.
