Asaad Abdul-Hamid

Team Lead

Asaad Abdul-Hamid is a 3rd-year Systems Engineering Ph.D. candidate at Stevens Institute of Technology. His research focuses on space sustainability. He has an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and a graduate degree in Engineering Management, both from Rutgers University. Asaad grew up in Roselle and is active in his community through an annual scholarship presented at his former high school. He regularly gives presentations to young students about public speaking, professional development, and success in STEM. Asaad has worked on several research projects, including two summer fellowships at NASA Headquarters, where he wrote reports to help guide the agency’s future approach to space sustainability. Asaad is a Fellow of the National GEM Consortium, as well as a member of the National Society of Black Engineers. Within STEM and beyond, Asaad’s vision is to live in a world where everyone has the socioeconomic freedom to be inspired. His goal is to achieve this vision by designing systems that equitably improve the lives of people around the world, especially in his home state of New Jersey.
