Ana DaSilva

Advisory Council Member

Ana DaSilva is a 2018 Governor’s STEM Scholar alumna and a Lecturer at New Jersey City University, where she holds a dual appointment in the College of Arts and Sciences and College of Education. At NJCU, she coordinates and teaches mathematics and math methods courses for future educators, mentors student teachers in bilingual and STEM classrooms, and serves as a clinical supervisor through instructional coaching and formal observations. She specializes in mentoring math and world language educators working with multilingual learners.

Ana is a certified Bilingual–Bicultural math educator with over eight years of experience teaching in linguistically diverse K–12 settings. She previously taught mathematics in Spanish and Portuguese to multilingual learners in Elizabeth and Newark Public Schools.

She holds an M.S. in Mathematics with a concentration in education and maintains a strong interest in interdisciplinary curriculum development that integrates language, culture, and STEM. Her current research explores how interdisciplinary connections in undergraduate math programs influence student success and academic performance.

Prior to joining NJCU, Ana served as a Lecturer at Rutgers University–Newark, where she taught foundational math courses. In addition to her teaching and research, she is passionate about expanding equitable STEM access and supporting bilingual students as they navigate academic pathways in science and mathematics.
