Shirin Sood
Advisory Council Member
Shirin Sood is an alumni representative on the Governor’s STEM Scholars Advisory Council and a member of the 2024 Governor’s STEM Scholars class. She is currently studying civil engineering at The Cooper Union. She is specifically interested in the intersection of environmental pollutants and engineering systems. As a Scholar, Shirin conducted research on monitoring PM2.5 air pollutants to safeguard public health in environmental justice communities. She has also interned at PolyGone Systems, a New Jersey-based startup pioneering microplastics remediation. In addition to her academics, Shirin is deeply engaged in climate policy advocacy as the leader of the NJ Sierra Club and Beyond Plastics youth groups.
