Shelby Hilarczyk

Shelby Hilarczyk is a junior at Edison Academy Magnet School. She is a part of the school's mechanical engineering program and is pursuing an associate in mathematics at Middlesex College. As co-founder of her school's WiSTEM club, she is passionate about empowering young women in STEM and increasing accessibility for female youth in central New Jersey. Shelby participated in MIT Beaver Works Summer Institute (BWSI) program's "Yes! You Can Program Racing Drones!" where she improved her coding and explored machine learning. Shelby interns at Integrated Educational Services Test Prep in Metuchen, reviewing and writing prep materials. Outside of STEM, Shelby is interested in politics, volunteering in campaigns for her local mayor and recently serving on Congressman Frank Pallone's Youth Advisory Council. She is a member of John F. Kennedy Memorial High School's color guard team and enjoys spending her free time with a good book. In the future, Shelby would like to work as a mechanical engineer developing sustainable energy solutions.
