Sade Peña
Sade Peña is a junior in the Academy for Biomedical Sciences at High Tech High School. As a member of the Girl Up Chapter in her school, she advocates for gender equality in her community and the STEM professions, by collecting data from female and non-binary individuals on their opinions about necessary changes in society. In addition, Sade participated in Girls Exploring Engineering program at Fairleigh Dickinson University where she joined other girls from underrepresented communities to learn about the varying engineering fields. She has also conducted research on the mosquito-borne disease, Chikungunya, and its effect on her native Caribbean island. In college, Sade wishes to pursue chemical and aerospace engineering that will aid in her personal mission to be the first Dominican in space with the research and expertise she will gain through the respective programs. In her free time, when she is not daydreaming about her future, she likes to read YA novels.
