Kosisochi Okaro

Kosisochi Okaro is a senior at Montclair High School. As the President of Girls Who Code
and President of the Black Student Union, she has managed to encourage Black women to learn about computer science. She was recently named a Scholar of the New Jersey Governor's School of Engineering and Technology at Rutgers University. During her time there, she composed a research paper with her group members and developed a Chrome Extension. She has also used Natural Language Processing (NLP) in the past as she led her team in building a tweet mimicking device with Java, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Through her exploration of computer science, she was also named a semi-finalist in the CyberStart America Hackathon, and currently holds the position of CyberStart Ambassador. Additionally, she is a student representative of her town’s District Equity Team and aspires to help recognize both racial and socio-economic disparities with her community. In the future she hopes to create opportunity within her native country of Nigeria through the intersection of business and technology.
