Helen Zheng

Helen Zheng is a senior at Watchung Hills Regional High School. She is interested in studying the interface of computer science and biology and has developed several research projects in those fields. In particular, she has studied proteins of diseases such as COVID-19, using computational modeling to assess the variants’ impacts on viral evolution, infectivity, and antiviral drug response. With this research, she has received awards from the New Jersey Junior Science and Humanities Symposium and New Jersey Regional Science Fair. She has also attended NJ Governor’s School of Engineering and Technology, where she co-developed a machine learning model to transfer the style of specific emotions onto artwork. Beyond high school, she plans to continue to immerse herself in STEM-based research.
