Hector Gonzalez

Hector Gonzalez is a junior at New Jersey City University (NJCU) and has a devoted passion for chemistry. As a first-generation Latino student, Hector has faced many challenges when it came to higher education, however he has shown great resilience by double majoring in both Chemistry and Environmental Science. He is also a member of the American Chemical Society and president of his institutions Chemistry Club where he hosts events that highlight the importance of chemistry in our everyday lives while focusing on the principles of diversity, equality, inclusion, and respect. Hector recently participated in a summer research internship at NJCU which focused on the fabrication and analysis of organic light emitting diodes. He hopes to continue research in the field of material chemistry but focused on sustainable energy and energy storage. He also worked as a supplemental instruction leader where he tutored students in General Chemistry II, and developed lesson plans using collaborative learning techniques to engage the students with the course material. Hector hopes to obtain his Ph.D. in Chemistry and continue to share his passion for chemistry with others within his community.
