Daisy Yao
Daisy Yao is a junior at Livingston High School. Through programs like the Academy at Rutgers for Girls in Engineering and Technology as well as participation in her school's Science Olympiad team, she has found a deep interest in the fields of biomedical science and physics. Her recent participation in the BioCONECT Oncology Leadership Development Camp at Rutgers especially contributed to the former, as working through a cancer patient's case study underlined just how meaningful it is to change the lives of those with health struggles. Besides STEM, she has a strong passion for music, playing the alto saxophone in her school's ensembles, running the school Jazz Improv Club she founded, as well as conducting the marching band as a drum major. She is a two-time national speech and debate competitor. Daisy also volunteers, coaching younger kids in lacrosse and coaching ice skating to skaters with disabilities in Special Olympics.
