Aashika Jagadeesh
Aashika Jagadeesh is a senior at Fair Lawn High School. Aashika conducted AI Ethics and Human-Computer Interactions research at the New Jersey Institute of Technology’s Social Interaction Lab. She first-authored a paper on using Bayesian choice modeling as a tool to combat bias in online recommender systems. Her work has been accepted to the Harvard Science Research Conference and the International Young Researchers' Conference, and she has won awards at the North Jersey Regional Science Fair. She is also the co-founder of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit called MakerSafe, which advocates for the creation of safe and ethical technology. Her nonprofit hosts workshops, programming camps, and competitions for middle school and high school students around the country. Aashika received recognition from the We Are Family Foundation and the National Center for Women In Information Technology for her work. Outside of AI Ethics, she likes to study biology and is a currently a USA Biology Olympiad semifinals qualifier. In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis and baking.
